GARDEN

Pleasure Garden is an intimate performance in a formal garden. Audiences glimpse the innocent moments of Adam's first bite of the apple, through love letters and peacocks to the thunderous age of steam. Groups are escorted into the garden for approximately 15 minutes for bees, blossom, extravagant characters and elegant comedy. The show was commissioned by Henley Festival and Stockton International Riverside Festival. Here's what some people said about it in 2007
The show does what it says on the tin! A little garden of gentle and subtle pleasures, not to be missed.
Liam Rich Chelmsford Borough Council
I really enjoyed my peep into the ingenious, time travelling topiary with all of the unexpected and gently comic scenes and images that unfolded within.
Bill Gee
This was another triumph in the Hoodwink trademark style. Deflating the pompous, mechanical ingenuity, broad brush physical comedy, and an essential Englishness which I can imagine plays as well abroad as it does here. We had the good fortune to have a genuine Georgian Square as a backdrop, and I don't think it would have seen such laughable foppery and frippery or world-defining ambition since the 18th Century.
Steve Henwood, Co Director Bath Fringe Festival
Pleasure Garden is performed in 2 x 2 hour blocks, each show lasts 15 minutes and is for 20 - 30 people.

Hoodwink's trademark mix of physical comedy, visual flair, and
fantastic music. A clock tower animated by the mechanical genius of Andy Plant
who created the walking, jumping table in Gastronomic. Two characters who
chime the hours in the clock tower cope with sabotage by mice, an ailing cuckoo,
and a dangerously over wound mainspring! Off beat, non verbal and striking
images - a funny and ingenious show that will delight all ages.

GASTRONOMIC
GASTRONOMIC is
an elaborate outdoor theatrical feast. Two waiters try to serve lunch to a
solitary diner but are thwarted by flies in the soup, exploding fish, runaway
puddings and a table that literally walks off in disgust! Elegance and etiquette
rapidly descend into an epic finale of custard pies with slapstick comedy, song,
dance and fantastical visual theatre. The non verbal, highly expressive style of
the show is ideal for the outdoor arena, and a soundtrack of period, popular
tunes accompany the action. At the same time GASTRONOMIC is original and
off beat, a curious world that makes perfect sense, full of visual delight and
strange invention.
"…a superb surreal piece of drama. I have seldom
laughed so much – this was just so silly, but clever too, with perfect timing,
amazing props…all delivered with incredible style and panache."
